The Municipality of TÍas, around
the fishing village of Puerto del Carmen,
is the most important tourist area in the province as well
as the island as a whole. Its coastline covers a succession
of wonderful beaches interspersed with small rock outcroppings.
The following is a selection of the main beaches in the Municipality

TopPLAYA GRANDE

In Puerto del Carmen, the prime tourist zone that has
been created on the island, you’ll find Playa Blanca,
also known as Playa Grande by the locals in order to distinguish
it from the Playa Blanca in the south. It is more than
a kilometre in length (1,190 m.) and a hundred metres
wide.
Very popular, it has lifeguards, showers, changing
areas, washrooms, rentals for hammocks, sunshades, boats
and water sports equipment.

TopLOS POCILLOS

The beach at Los Pocillos with fine golden sand is part
of the development of the same name. It is more than a
kilometre long (1,230 m.) and 150 m. wide. High tide leaves
pools on its flat surface.
Windy but with calm waters, it is very popular and
offers good wind surfing conditions as well as all types
of services from hotels and apartment-hotels to restaurants,
shopping centres and boutiques. You can get to it by
guagua (bus).

TopMATAGORDA

The beach at Matagorda, part of the tourist development
of the same name, measures 850 m. long and has an average
width of 40 m.
Windy beach of fine golden sand but with calm waters,
offers good conditions for windsurfing, particularly for
beginners.
Can be reached by bus and has accommodations and rental
services for sunshades, hammocks and water sports equipment.

- Long: 900 m.
- Wide: 50 m.
- Shore: fine golden sand

Lima beach is about one kilometre long (900 m.) and 50
m. wide.
A mix of fine golden sand and picon (small lava stones),
this is a windy beach with calm waters ideal for first
time windsurfers.
Located beside the Matagorda development, it can be reached
by guagua (bus).

TopPEÑA GRANDE

The little cove of Peña Grande has fine white sand
and pebbles.
Windy beach with calm waters, 40 m. long and 5 m. wide,
it offers full services that include lifeguards, restaurants,
accommodations, showers, parking and telephones.
It also has a seaside boardwalk and can be reached by
guagua (bus).

TopBARRILLA

Barrilla beach in the Puerto del Carmen area is 90 m.
long and 22 m. wide with fine golden sand and calm waters.
It has a boardwalk and accommodations as well as lifeguard
and security equipment; accessible by guagua (bus) and
also has a parking area.

Fariones beach of fine golden sand can be found in Puerto
del Carmen next to the hotel of the same name.
It is a small cove, 60 m. long by 5 m. wide with calm
waters.
Accessible by guagua (bus).
