The municipal capital, at 300 metres above sea level, despite its agrarian origins has become the administrative centre with economic activities shifted to the coast.
Among the abundant protected areas of this borough, there are two worth mentioning, El Macizo de Adeje and Barranco del Infierno, natural parklands of undeniable scenic beauty, rich in plant and animal life.
Other places of interest are the Santa Ursula Church (16th and 17th Century), Fuerte House (16th C), San Francisco Convent (17th C), the old hermitage of the Incarnation (Encarnación, 16th C) and Taucho Country House (Caserío de Taucho).
