Named for the grain silos that the Portuguese colonist, Gonzalo Yánez, ordered constructed, the historic centre of the town was built around the Luz Plaza where an art nouveau style kiosk was erected at the beginning of the 20th Century.
El Monte del Agua (mount) in Teno Rural Park offers a large variety of firetree-heath forests and laurels.
Of cultural interest are the salt carpets created for the Corpus Christi celebration in the Las Canteras neighbourhood.
