Golf courses, yacht marinas, conference
centres, theme parks... Tenerife offers a complete range
of leisure activities to satisfy all kinds of tastes.
Tenerife is the big
brother of the island chain, forming the province of
the same name, along with the Islands of La Gomera,
La Palma and El Hierro. Located between the 28th and
29th parallel north and between 16º and 17º west, it
is also the highest of the Canary Islands. It shares,
with the other Islands, one of the most pleasant and
mildest climates in the world, and is the holiday destination
for four million visitors a year.
Under the attentive
gaze of El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, and
with the sea as an ever-present background, the most
significant feature of Tenerife is the wealth and diversity
of its landscape and micro-climates. |

Just over two thousand square kilometres of rugged terrain
forming pools in beaches and coves that have turned
the Island into one of the Meccas of European tourism.

On the Island, you can combine a peaceful
stay with some healthy walking or rural tourism, or
a beach holiday in the sun with a slightly more high
risk sport like windsurfing, climbing, sailing, paragliding,
diving or horseback riding.
This is an island with
a varied list of native species of flora and fauna and
several distinct topographies. 45% of the total area
of the Island is under some form of protection. This
includes the Teide National Park, the Corona Forestal
Nature Park and the Anaga and Teno Rural Parks.
For those who prefer to feel the Island's natural environment
close up and personal, there are several distinct topographies.
|
| El Teide,
on the other hand, is the ideal place for walking and
gazing at the stars. In fact, the Canary Island Astrophysics
Institute is close to the mountaintop, next to the Cañadas
del Teide. Tourists with other tastes will find a great
nightlife in Puerto de la Cruz, Las Americas, Santa
Cruz and La Laguna. Theme parks, exhibition halls, cinemas,
museums and other centres complete the top-class range
of activities.
Tenerife in the words of French poet, André Breton,
'offers a surreal paradise', because of the diversity
of the climate, the contrasting landscapes, the natural
wealth and character of the local inhabitants. |

Visitors who come here appreciate the
open, liberal and hospitable nature of the Islanders,
who are proud to show off the countless charms of their
land to outsiders. You can immerse yourself in the sun,
beaches, culture, fun and natural environment that Tenerife
has to offer, appreciating with every sip just how magnificent
Mother Nature has been to this lands of paradise. The
expression 'with every sip' is not a cliché as,
along with a delicious cuisine, the Island produces
wines that are born directly out of the bowels of the
volcano. Tenerife is an island of delicious feasts and
dishes. |
