TENERIFE TEMPERATURE

Weather in Tenerife

Tenerife features the lowest temperature difference between winter and summer which is why it is often called “The island of Eternal spring”.

Tenerife weather sporadically includes rain, but there is no specific 'rainy season'. The minimum and maximum yearly average air temperatures in Tenerife are about 15º C (59F) in winter and 24ºC (75F) in summer.
Tenerife features an unexpected variety of micro-climatic weather zones. Geographically the Canary Islands are affected by two weather systems: the effect of the trade winds from the area of the Azores together with the permanent warm airflow that the dominant winds carry from the Sahara desert.

These are the major factors that contribute to Tenerife's marvellous weather.

In central Tenerife, the island boasts the highest point in all of Spain- the Majestic Mount Teide volcano (or Pico del Teide) measuring 3,718m (12,195 feet) above sea level which effectively creates two very different climates within a very short distance.

The cooler northern part of the island is a lush tropical paradise with banana plantations and palm trees where you will possibly experience a significant number of cloudy days and perhaps even a few rainy days during your visit.

In contrast the south of Tenerife features stunning volcanic landscape and enjoys the most sunshine, the best dry, desert like weather, the least clouds and highest temperatures.
